Laurel Police Search for Suspect in Stabbing

LAUREL, Del.– Laurel police are looking for a suspect wanted in connection with a Sunday night stabbing that left a man hospitalized.

According to police, at around 9 p.m. the victim was walking his pet at the Holly Brook Apartment Complex when he was approached by another man. An argument ensued and the victim was stabbed twice in the lower torso, investigators said. 

The victim was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. His current condition is unknown.

After investigating, police were able to identify the suspect as a black male with the possible name of Wayne Edwards of Salisbury, Md. Police said the suspect, who has not been located, was driving a 2007 black Ford Fusion with tinted windows and a Delaware registration. 

Police said the suspect could be in the Salisbury or Laurel area and is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Laurel Police Department at (302) 875-2244 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333 (800-TIP-3333).
