Hurlock Man Arrested After 2-Month-Old Baby Abandoned

HURLOCK, Md. - The Dorchester County Sheriff's office has arrested a Hurlock man wanted in connection with the abandonment of a 2-month-old child.

According to the sheriff's office, on Dec. 12,  23-year-old Jawaun Billy Jones of Hurlock became involved in an argument with the child's mother, placed the baby in a child safety seat, and left the child in the traveled portion of Jones Village Road around 3 a.m..

According to police, the child was found and turned over to other family members. Jones was arrested Dec. 19 and charged with second-degree child abuse, reckless endangerment and neglect of a minor. Jones was ordered held on $300,000 bond.

The child's mother, 23-year-old Kameisha Tysheria Perry of Baltimore, was taken into custody in mid-December on similar charges.
