BERLIN, Md.- Maryland State Police charge a 21-year-old Pittsville woman with DUI after a 3-car crash on Rt. 50.

Troopers said they arrested Addeline Schenk following the accident Tuesday night just after 9 p.m. on westbound Rt. 50 at Hall Rd.

According to state police, an investigation revealed Schenk was traveling on Rt. 50 when she drove onto the right shoulder and hit an unoccupied, disabled car.

Following the initial collision, state police said a tire from the unoccupied car became dislodged and came to rest in the middle of westbound Rt. 50.

Troopers said a third vehicle, driven by 22-year-old Gabriele Eckstein, of Ellicott City, Maryland, hit the tire. State police said this caused her vehicle to lose control and crash into a guardrail on the shoulder.

According to state police, troopers detected a strong odor of alcohol on Schenk's breath. Troopers said she failed several field sobriety tests.

State police said Schenk was arrested and charged with DUI, DWI and Negligent Driving before she was released to a friend.
