BISHOPVILLE, Md.- A Berlin man is arrested on drug charges after deputies found heroin during a traffic stop.

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office said it happened Tuesday just after 7:30 p.m. on Peerless Rd. at Worcester Highway in Bishopville.

The sheriff's office said deputies pulled over a vehicle for an equipment violation and several moving violations.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies learned the driver, 23-year-old Shawn Murray, did not have a valid driver's license.

Deputies said state police arrived shortly after and scanned Murray's car using a K9. The sheriff's office said the K9 detected the presence of drugs.

Deputies said they found suspected heroin under a seat in the car during a search.

The sheriff's office said Murray was arrested and held at the Worcester County Jail on $35,000 bond. Deputies said Murray currently has five pending and active cases involving drug violations.

In this case, deputies said Murray is charged with Failure to Display License, Driving without License and Authorization, Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device, Failure to Drive Right of Center, Driving without Rear Registration Illumination, and CDS Possession Not Marijuana.
