PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- A house explosion in Princess Anne sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries on Thursday afternoon. Three people were inside the home when the explosion occurred.

Princess Anne Fire Chief Randell Redding said firefighters received a call to the home at about 2:30 p.m. Redding said a man working for Peninsula Oil was at the house filling the propane tank when the explosion happened. He said the man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Two women were inside the home when they heard the explosion, Debora Brunson described what happened while she and her cousin were inside.

"I heard a noise like errrrrrrrk....like a noise and I said, 'What's that noise?' She said, 'Oh, he's in there working.' Then BOOM! When the thing went off, she jotted out the door; and I heard the man hollering, 'Oh my God. Oh my God! so I said, 'Mister, you all right?' She...my cousin had ran out.

"I was scared something bad happened to him," Brunson continued. "And then when he came out, his hand was burnt really bad, the skin was peeled back on his fingers and hand."

Redding said there was an overflow of propane filling the house when the man tried to light the pilot, causing the explosion.
