LEWES, Del. - The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company responded to a chimney fire Friday afternoon in the 34000 block of Bookhammer Landing Road, in Angola.

Upon arrival of the first units, firefighters say the area was full of smoke. Firefighters say the fire was in the area of the fireplace and it extended to the attic and roof areas.

Crews from the Lewes Fire Department, the Indian River Fire Company and a cover up from the Bethany Beach Fire Company assisted in fighting the fire.  Sussex County EMS also responded. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters say it took about an hour to place the fire under control. Fire units remained on scene until about 2:30 p.m.
