SALISBURY, Md.– An 18-year-old Salisbury man is wanted for attempted murder after he allegedly shot a taxi driver during a robbery, according to Salisbury police.

Police said the warrant for the arrest of Benjamin Emmanuel Rivera-Alvira was issued Wednesday morning following Tuesday night's robbery and shooting. According to police, officers were called to respond to the 1700 block of Emerson Avenue.

Police said they found a 34-year-old taxi driver who had been shot. According to police, the victim stated he was transporting Rivera-Alvira when the suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded cash. The driver handed over cash and then began to run for the car, police said. They said the suspect also got out of the car and began firing shots, hitting the victim.

Police said Rivera-Alvira is wanted on an arrest warrant charging him with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, robbery and possession of a handgun. Rivera-Alvira should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police.
