Del. Congressional Delegation Seeks Information About Recent School Bomb Threats

Posted: Updated:

DELAWARE - Delaware lawmakers are trying to get answers in the investigation over recent bomb threats at schools across Delmarva.

In a letter to FBI Director James Comey Wednesday, Congressman John Carney, and Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons asked the Bureau for more information on the efforts to assist the state in investigating and addressing the threats against the schools.

In recent months, a number of schools across the nation have confronted threats of violence. According to the Delegation, in California, the Los Angeles Unified school district, one of the largest in the United States, closed over 900 schools for a day after receiving bomb threats last year. In New Hampshire, school was canceled for 11,500 students after also receiving bomb threats last year. Just this week, the Delegation said another bomb threat was made to a Delmarva middle school.

The letter also asked to bring in federal resources in order to identify the sources and to help prevent future threats from happening.
