LAUREL, Del.- A Laurel man is behind bars in connection with a  bank robbery.

Police arrested 29-year-old Randal Hutchins for armed robbery of the M&T Bank on Market Street. Police say Hutchins entered the bank, held up a knife, and demanded money from the teller.

Police say Hutchins ran away and was caught a short time later on Delaware Ave.

According to police, Hutchins admitted to robbing the bank and said he threw the knife into the Broad Creek.

Further investigations revealed that Hutchins was also in possession of drug paraphernalia and admitted that his addiction to illegal drugs was the reason for his actions.

Hutchins was arrested for robbery 1st-degree, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hutchins was committed to SCI after being arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and in default of a $106,000 secured bond.
