FREDERICA, Del.- Delaware State Police say three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash that occurred early Sunday evening north of Frederica.
Troopers said that at around 7:45 p.m., 27-year-old Raed S. Mesilus, of Laurel, was operating a 2007 Honda Accord northbound on Bay Road (US113/SR1) just north of North Frederica Road when for an unknown reason he crossed over the center median and entered into the southbound lanes. Police said 28-year-old Michael D. Lue, of Chesapeake, Va., was operating a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country and 43-year-old Ralph E. Seward, of Milford, was operating a 2003 Saturn Vue southbound on SR1 when the Accord crossed into their lanes, striking both vehicles.
Police said Mesilus was properly restrained and was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital (KGH) where he was admitted with undetermined injuries. Troopers said charges are pending Mesilus' release for third-offense driving under the influence, two counts of second-degree vehicular assault, failure to have insurance in possession and failure to remain within a single lane.
Lue was properly restrained and transported to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital with undetermined injuries, according to police.
Troopers said Seward was properly restrained and transported to KGH where he was treated for undetermined injuries.
SR1 southbound was closed at Barratts Chapel Road for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
