OCEAN CITY, Md.- A group called Ocean City Cool plans to make beach cleanup a year-round event, not just a response to January's big winter storm.

The group of volunteers started picking up trash on the beach after the storm and have been doing so every day since. Bob Banach is the group's founder.

"It's my front yard, I live here," he explained. "So when I walk out the front door I see the beach and I like my front yard clean."

Banach said since the town still has to deal with rebuilding the pier and damaged dunes, he wanted to make his mark.

"OC is doing their best," he said. "They're doing a heck of a job getting it all cleaned up but there is just way too much for the people they have so we want to help out."

Volunteers said they are still finding items in the sand that could be dangerous to kids or animals.

Nicole Crosariol said she wants her home to be ready for visitors all year, and that's why this effort is important.

"I've been coming to this beach since I was 4-years-old, so you know it means a lot to me," she said. "All spring we have events that people come down on the weekend... if it's nice out, we'll come here and bring the dogs out."

To help, Ocean City Cool will be meeting every Tuesday at noon in the inlet parking lot next to Jolly Roger's Amusement Park.
