MILLSBORO, Del. - More charges could be coming to a Millsboro man, who was arrested in January for a D.U.I. following a crash, after one of the passengers involved in that crash died Monday.

Delaware State Police said 42-year-old Joseph E. Deldeo, Sr., of Millsboro, was a back seat passenger in the 2003 Saturn Ion when it crashed into a tree on January 17. 23-year-old Dillon Davis, of Millsboro, was the driver.

According to police, Davis was driving northbound on Long Neck Road approaching Bay Road when he lost control of his car as he attempted to round a curve, left the roadway and hit a tree. Police said Deldeo was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

Deldeo was initially taken to Beebe Healthcare before being flown to Christiana Medical Center, following the crash, but he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital Monday afternoon, according to police.

A 21-year-old woman from Millsboro, who was another passenger in the car, has since been released from the hospital, police said.

Dillon Davis, who was not injured in the crash, was transported to Troop 7, where a DUI investigation ensued. Davis was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, two counts of Vehicular Assault in the 1st Degree, Possession of Marijuana (3 grams), and three counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

He was arraigned at JP Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $6,501 secured bail.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident and additional charges may be forthcoming.
