Georgetown Man Charged With DUI, Drug Possession in Rehoboth Beach

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - A Georgetown man was arrested on drug charges over the weekend after a traffic stop in Rehoboth Beach.

According to the Rehoboth Beach Police Department, an officer pulled 21-year-old Kevin Samaroo over on Sunday around 1:40 a.m. after Samaroo ran a red light at the intersection of Second Street and Rehoboth Avenue.

Police say after stopping the car, the officer smelled marijuana from the vehicle and Samaroo showed signed of being intoxicated. According to the officer, Samaroo failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol.

During a search of Samaroo's car, police say they found marijuana, nine pills classified as a narcotic, packaging materials consistent with the distribution of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. According to police, while the arresting officer was conducting the search, Samaroo urinated in the rear of the officer’s patrol car. 

Samaroo was charged with one count of drug dealing, one count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of consumption of marijuana, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, one count of disorderly conduct, one count of driving a vehicle under the influence of a combination of alcohol and any drug, one count of failure to stop at a red light and one count of failure to have insurance identification in possession. Police say he was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 3, issued a $7,425 unsecured bail and released.
