DOVER, Del.- Some Delaware lawmakers are interested in putting the gas tax back on the table at Legislative Hall.

They are proposing a 10 cent increase per gallon in the gas tax. That would be on top of the 23 cent per gallon tax customers pay now.

Adding 10 cents to the tax could bring in $50 million, according to representatives supporting the measure.

Supporters of the action say the money would go to much needed repairs on Delaware roads and bridges.

People WBOC spoke with on Thursday had mixed opinions.

Debbie Armstrong of Dover said she supports the measure.

"You're deciding how much gas you put in your car," she said. "You can control the cost for yourself as an individual. That if it is a burden there's alternatives or you can minimize your trips."

Others said they aren't quite sure they want to spend the extra money out of their pockets.

The gas tax increase is just a proposal for now. It will see action in the House of Representatives when members return to session in early March.
