Police: Easton Man Arrested for Assault on Pregnant Woman

EASTON, Md.- Police have arrested an Easton man accused of punching a pregnant woman in the stomach during an argument. 

Twenty-seven-year-old Jonathan Maurice Butler was taken into custody on Sunday and charged with two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment and alcohol intoxication/endangerment.

Easton police said Butler was wanted in connection of an assault that had occurred on Feb. 6 in the Mulberry Hill Apartment complex.

Police said it is alleged that Butler made contact with the victim, 32-year-old Taneika Turner, at the 500 building. An argument ensued when Butler, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, assaulted Turner, according to police. 

Following his arrest on the aforementioned charges, Butler was ordered held in the Talbot County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.

It happened at the intersection of White Lowe Road and Route 50 shortly before 3 p.m. According to MSP, Maria Theresia Ellis, 77 of Ocean City, was driving on White Lowe Road when her car failed to yield to oncoming traffic as she turned onto Route 50. Police said Ellis's car was hit in a T-bone like manner by Garrett Adrian Pusey, 20 of Mardela Springs.
