Man Seriously Injured in Crash Near Greenwood

GREENWOOD, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that left one person seriously injured in Greenwood.
 
Police say it happened around 11:30 p.m. on Friday. Police say 41-year-old Paul Edwards, of Greenwood, was driving northbound direction on Sussex Highway north of Adams Road at an apparent high rate of speed. 

According to police, Edwards then lost control of his car which rotated, left the roadway ,and struck a utility pole.
 
Police say Edwards was treated at the scene by Sussex County Paramedics. He was then transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was admitted with serious injuries. 

Edwards, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was cited by troopers with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving at an unreasonable speed, driving with a suspended license, no proof of motor vehicle insurance, and failure to transfer title.
 
The northbound and southbound lanes of Sussex Highway were closed for about and hour and a half as the crash was investigated and cleared.
