JOPPA, Md. - The family of slain Harford County Sheriff Deputy Pat Dailey got to meet the Maryland State Police Trooper who was named for their loved one on Sunday.

Last Tuesday, the Maryland State Police K9 unit announced via Facebook that they had a new Trooper in training, a 10-week old bloodhound named Dailey. On Friday, the fire department says,Trooper Richard Kelly, K9 Dailey's handler, showed up at the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company's Main Station to meet the crew where Deputy Dailey had been a volunteer firefighter.

On Sunday, the fire department says Troopers Dailey and Kely were able to meet Deputy Dailey's family, Bryan and Tyler Dailey who were Pat Dailey's sons, and Aimee Grebe.

Surrounded by members of the JMVFC, some of which had their kids with them, the fire department says K9 Dailey walked around with his tail wagging and his nose sniffing.

Trooper Kelly says that Trooper Dailey will be assigned to the Maryland State Police Special Operations Division. Trooper Dailey will also be a tracking dog, searching for missing children, vulnerable adults and other tracking that the Maryland State Police would need, Kelly says.

Harford County Sheriff's Deputy Patrick "Pat" Dailey was killed in the line of duty on February 10, 2016 after being shot in Abingdon, Harford County. Another Deputy, Mark Logsdon also gave his life during the same incident. Deputy Dailey was a life member of the JMVFC with more than
37 years of active service with the fire company.
