McEachin Files Paperwork to Run for Congress

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Democratic state Sen. Don McEachin has filed paperwork to run for congress in a newly redrawn district more friendly to Democrats.

Multiple media outlets reported Monday that McEachin is running the 4th Congressional District, which is currently held by Republican U.S. Rep. Randy Forbes.

After a federal panel of judges redrew the 4th District, Forbes has opted to run in the GOP-friendly 2nd District, which covers Accomack County, instead.

McEachin is an African-American personal injury lawyer who is head of the Democratic caucus in the state Senate.
