RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- Hillary Clinton easily won the Democratic presidential primary in Virginia Tuesday, while Donald Trump narrowly defeated Marco Rubio for the GOP win.
Virginia is a key state that likely will be a focal point during the general election. Its results provide some key takeaways.
The Trump camp highlights a massive Republican turnout far outpacing the Democrats. They said that points out an enthusiasm gap that will work to their advantage come November.
Clinton will need to pick up millennials who flocked to Democrat Bernie Sanders and Trump will need to engage voters in the suburbs if either candidate wants to claim victory in the general election.
Quentin Kidd, a political science professor at Christopher Newport University, says Trump remade the Tea Party in his image.
