SALISBURY, Md. - A repeat DUI offender from Salisbury has been arrested again, but this time police say she had an infant in the car.

According to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday a deputy stopped a car driven by 35-year-old Takiesha Renee Steward on Seminole Boulevard. The deputy said Steward was driving twice the speed limit.

As Steward got out of her car, the deputy said she stumbled toward the patrol car and used her own car to maintain her balance. The deputy also noticed Steward smelled of alcohol. After conducting field sobriety tests, the deputy arrested Steward for DUI.

The sheriff's office said that is when the deputy noticed Steward had a 3-month-old child that she was babysitting in the car. An MVA check revealed Steward's driving privileges had been suspended and revoked in Maryland and that she had two prior DUI convictions in 2013 and 2015 and a pending DUI case from an arrest on Feb. 3, according to investigators.

The sheriff's office said that during additional processing, Steward refused to submit to a breath test. She was charged with speeding, driving while revoked and suspended, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol while transporting a minor. Deputies say she was detained on $25,000 bond.
