Suspect Charged in Salisbury Home Invasion, Assault

SALISBURY, Md.- Police have arrested a 34-year-old man accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend with a knife during a weekend home invasion in Salisbury. 

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office reports that shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, a deputy responded to a reported disturbance at a home on the 200 block of Eden Street. The sheriff's office said that upon arrival, the deputy met with a woman who stated that her ex-boyfriend, Jose Angel Martinez, of Salisbury, went to the home uninvited and forced his way inside. 

The sheriff's office reported that the woman claimed Martinez chased her into a bedroom following her retreat and began slashing at her with a knife. Martinez also slashed the woman's mattress and bedding, according to the sheriff's office. Martinez fled from the home before the deputy's arrival, the sheriff's office said. 

The sheriff's office reported that during the investigation, the deputy saw evidence of the slashing in the clothes that the woman was wearing which corroborated her account.

Martinez was arrested the following day and charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, first-degree assault, dangerous weapon, reckless endangerment and malicious destruction of property. He was ordered held in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $35,000 bond.
