FELTON, Del.- Delaware State Police say a Felton man suffered critical injuries after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a Jeep early Tuesday evening.

Troopers said that at around 6:30 p.m. 29-year-old Paul J. Perry was operating a 2002 Kawasaki Ninja eastbound on Sandtown Road and approaching a Jeep from behind when the Jeep began to turn right into a private drive.  Police said the Perry applied his brakes and skidded more than 60 feet before the bike slid on its side and struck the Jeep in its right rear corner. Perry was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the side of the road, according to investigators.

Troopers said Perry was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was airlifted to Christiana Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

Police said the driver of the Jeep, identified as 63-year-old Rhonda A. Martin, also of Felton, was properly restrained and uninjured in the crash.

The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into this incident and no charges have been filed, according to police.

Sandtown Road was closed for approximately three and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
