SALISBURY, Md.- Two people had to be taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after the car they were riding in went off a busy stretch of highway in Salisbury and struck two parked vehicles before hitting the front of a motel.

The accident happened shortly after 2 p.m. at the Budget Inn, located at 1804 N. Salisbury Blvd. (Business 13). Witnesses reported that a car was traveling in the southbound lanes of North Salisbury Boulevard when it went off the road and crashed into two parked cars, before hitting the front of the motel and coming to a rest.

An elderly man and woman who were inside the car had to be extricated by Salisbury firefighters. They were then transported by ambulance to Peninsula Regional Medical Center. There is no word yet on the condition of the victims, whose names have not yet been released.

Salisbury police are investigating the crash.
