DOVER, Del. - A Dover man is behind bars after police say they found close to 400 grams of marijuana in his car during a traffic stop.

According to Dover police, officers stopped 26-year-old Giovanni Echevarria just before 6:45 p.m. Monday for a traffic violation in the area of Reese Street and Lincoln Street.

Police say they could smell the marijuana while they were walking toward the car. A search of the car turned up 392.8 grams of marijuana, a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun and $6,509 in drug proceeds, according to police.

Echevarria was arrested and committed to JTVCC on $9,201 secured bond on the following charges:

  • Failure to Wear Seatbelt
  • Driving with Suspended License
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana with Agg. Factor
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
  • Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
