Updated: Dover Man's Death Ruled Homicide

DOVER, Del.- Delaware State Police detectives are now investigating as a homicide the death of a man whose body was found Wednesday afternoon at the Port Mahon Pier in Dover.

The body of 24-year-old Dontray Hendricks of Dover has been turned over to the Division of Forensic Sciences where an autopsy determined that his manner of death was a homicide caused by being shot. 

According to police, the investigation began at approximately 12:39 p.m. Wednesday afternoon after troopers were called for an unresponsive man sitting on the pier on the 2300 block of Port Mahon Road. The man, later identified as Hendricks, was pronounced dead at the scene by Kent County paramedics. DSP homicide detectives were then contacted to assume the investigation. 

Police said detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Hendricks' death and specific details of the homicide not are being released at this time as to not jeopardize the case.
