DOVER, Del.- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Dover man in connection to an attempted robbery of a hotel back in January.

Police say on January 8, 2016, the man entered the Microtel Hotel located at 1703 East Lebanon Road, Dover and displayed a handgun and demanded cash. Before obtaining any money, police say the suspect fled from the hotel. There were no injuries reported.

After obtaining evidence from the scene, conducting interviews, and utilizing other investigative measures, detectives say they were able to link Shondell A. Johnson, 28 of Dover, to the attempted robbery. After Shondell was contacted, police say  he willingly turned himself in to Troopers at Troop 3 in Camden.

He was arrested without incident on Friday, police say. He was then charged and processed for Attempted Robbery First Degree Displays What Appears to be a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. He was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and was issued a $20,000 secured bond. He was released after posting bond
