SALISBURY, Md. - A Salisbury man was ordered to spend 50 years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to a 2015 murder.

According to Wicomico County State's Attorney Matt Maciarello, a circuit court judge sentenced 20-year-old Shaquan Wallace to life in prison suspend all but an active period of 50 years behind bars. The first-degree murder charge stems from a deadly home invasion that happened on May 17, 2015.

A joint investigation by Maryland State Police's Homicide Division and the Salisbury Police Department revealed that on that date, Wallace and another man, Daequan White, broke into a home on Bryn Mawr Drive. Police said that during the home invasion,Wallace shot and killed 20-year-old James Skinner. Wallace made statements to a witness, which were recorded by law enforcement, admitting his involvement as the shooter.

According to the state's attorney's office, Wallace is currently serving a sentence for a violation of probation, and his murder sentence will be served consecutively. He received no credit for time served.
