SALISBURY, Md.– Hancock Fabrics, which has a store in the Twilley Shopping Centre in Salisbury, is going out of business and closing all of its stores nationwide.

According to the company’s website, the craft store filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy on Feb. 22. All 185 locations have been sold for liquidation to The Great American Group, a company that auctions and liquidates assets.

Sally Ann Jefferson of Bridgeville, Del., said news of the store’s closing was sad.

"I cried,” she said. "Big tears because it's just convenient and, like I said, they're very friendly."

According to The Great American Group, the going-out-of-business sales at all 185 locations began Apr. 1. The company said it expects the sale of all assets to take several weeks.
