Student Charged With Attempted Rape at Salisbury's Bennett High

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - A Bennett High School student has been charged with attempted rape of a female student in a stairwell.

According to the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation, the assault happened Wednesday around 1:20 p.m. Investigators say the male student, who has not been named, led the female to the back of the school and tried to kiss her, take her clothes off and reveal his genitals.

When she resisted, investigators say he choked her, pulled her hair and pinned her down. He was stopped after about 10 minutes by a staff member who saw the assault occurring on video in the office.

The Bureau of Investigation says the suspect will be charged as an adult with multiple offenses including first- and second-degree attempted rape.
