ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WBOC/AP)- The Maryland Senate voted Friday to override the governor's veto of a hotly debated bill on the state's policy for deciding what transportation projects get funding.
The House voted to override the bill on Thursday, largely along party lines. The bill now becomes law.
The bill creates a scoring system to prioritize transportation projects. Democrats say the bill is needed to increase transparency, but Republicans say it's an encroachment on the Republican governor's authority in a process that has worked for years.
Lawmakers also will be working to pass legislation as the session nears its end. Both chambers are expected to work on Saturday.
The session is scheduled to end Monday at midnight.
