DELMAR, Md.- Charges have been filed against a Delmar School PTA Official accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the PTA fund. Investigators with the Wicomico County Bureau of Investigation said Tracie Vonarx is alleged to have stolen over $8,000 from the PTA account.

Investigators said they were contacted in March by the Delmar PTA about the stolen money. Police said when they looked into the matter, they found Vonarx had forged several checks and kept several cash donations for her personal use.

Parents like Cherie Slacum said they were shocked of the news.

"It's just very upsetting to know that the money is being taken from the children by someone we thought could be trusted with this money," Slacum said.

According to online court documents,Vonarx is charged with 48 counts of theft and forgery related charges in Wicomico County. Vonarx was issued a criminal summons.
