SALISBURY, Md. - A family is without a home after a fire destroyed their house Monday evening.

It happened around 7 p.m. Monday on Woodcrest Avenue in Salisbury. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says a neighbor noticed the fire, which started on the front porch from discarded smoking materials, and called 911.

Firefighters on the scene tell WBOC no one was home at the time of the fire, but the neighbor quickly rescued the family dog.

The fire caused about $100,000 in damage. The fire was ruled as accidental by the State Fire Marshal.
