DOVER, Del.- Police say they have arrested a 16-year-old Dover High School junior accused of threatening to blow up the school with a bomb.

Dover police said the threat was sent via text message to a fellow student, who notified school personnel on Wednesday morning. According to police, the school resource officer quickly located the student and took him into custody without incident. Investigators said that at that time, the school was evacuated and officers conducted an hours-long search as a precautionary measure.

The Capital School District decided to dismiss students at 12:30 p.m. as a result of the situation, according to police. Investigators said the school was cleared of any dangers later in the afternoon and classes are expected to resume as scheduled on Thursday.

Police said the student will be charged with terroristic threatening. Bond information is not yet available.
