PORTSMOUTH, Va. - The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a fishing boat about 35 miles east of Chincoteague Saturday afternoon.

Watchstanders got a call around 10:45 a.m. saying a 58-year-old crewman aboard the commercial fishing boat Good News II out of Hampton was having trouble breathing and requested assistance.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, diverted from another mission and arrived on scene at about 11:25 a.m.. They hoisted the man and transported him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk in stable condition.

"The case was a great team effort all the way around from start to finish.  It was truly a privilege to be able to go out and help a mariner in need," said Lt. Christopher Pulliam, aircraft commander for the case.
