SALISBURY, Md.- Deputies with the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office have arrested a 15-year-old Parkside High School student accused of attacking another student in a school hallway.

The Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that the 15-year-old female student had been making statements over the course of several days that she wanted to fight another student. Police said that on the morning of May 5, a confrontation took place when the pair met in a school hallway.

According to investigators, the victim was struck multiple times in the head, which caused her to fall to the ground. The Sheriff's Office said the 15-year-old attacker then began kicking at the victim before a staff member was able to separate the pair. The suspect then walked off campus, the Sheriff's Office said.

The 15-year-old has been charged with second-degree assault and her case turned over to the Department of Juvenile Services, the Sheriff's Office said.

The victim's mother told WBOC her daughter suffered a concussion as a result of the incident. The mother said she hopes that through the legal system, the student who attacked her daughter is removed from the school.

"Every parent's nightmare is to have someone picking on your child for no reason," the woman said.
