SEAFORD, Del.- Some neighbors in the Seaford area are looking for answers after a dead dog with a bullet wound was found floating in a garbage bag in the Concord Pond. Delaware Animal Services said that the investigation first began when a neighbor saw a suspicious garbage bag stuck in the pond's spillway on Saturday and called authorities. When constables with DAS responded, they found an American pitbull terrier inside.

Investigators told WBOC that the dog had a "bullet entry wound" in the chest. They said there was no other physical evidence inside of the bag. From this investigation, they believe that the dog was a male American pitbull terrier, between the ages of 3 and 4. Animal Services said that the dog likely weighed approximately 60 pounds.

"It's sickening..." said neighbor Johnny Johnson. "Let's just hope that the guilty party is caught. That's my thought. That's my hope.

Michael Crippen, who was working on a home nearby, said that the discovery was troubling.

"That's cruel," he said. "And if you didn't want the animal, you should've gotten rid of the animal. Put it somewhere or gave it away or something. Even just let it free."

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Delaware Animal Services at (302) 255-4646.
