CAMBRIDGE, Md.-  Cambridge police have now opened their third substation in less than a year.

This new substation is on Greenwood Avenue.  It's one of the parts of the city with the highest level of crime, so police wanted more of a presence there.  They will now be working out of an apartment rent-free.  They have had it for a little less than a month now and it's expected to be fully operational in July. Police says it's more than a place for cops.

"It's going to be a community station.  We want people to come in.  It's open for people to come talk with us.  We're going to do after school activities, and all summer long we are going to have programs here for the children in the community," said Sgt. Antoine Patton.

The city also opened substations on Race Street and Pine Street in Cambridge.
