REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - Three people, including two teenagers, were arrested in connection to a motorcycle theft in Rehoboth Beach.

Rehoboth Beach Police said that officers first took a report around 9:45 p.m. Thursday that someone had his motorcycle stolen from Second Street in the area of Baltimore Avenue. The case was immediately turned over to a detective for further investigation, which led to the recovery of surveillance footage of 17-year-olds Jack F. Kelleher, of Rehoboth Beach, and John J. Baron, of Lewes, stealing the motorcycle.

As the department was preparing a press release in an attempt to identify the suspects, police said an officer was contacted by a friend of the victim who observed the stolen motorcycle in the bed of a white long bed pickup truck leaving Rehoboth Beach on Rehoboth Avenue Westbound. Police said officers immediately began a search of the SR 1 corridor and were able to locate the white truck on SR 1 Northbound approaching the Nassau Bridge.

Police said officers were able to stop the truck, which was operated by 23-year-old Edward A. Launay.  Kelleher and Baron were passengers.  All three individuals were taken into custody and the truck was towed back to a secured facility until a search warrant was obtained, according to police.

During a search of the vehicle, the detective located personal use amounts of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the personal possessions of all three individuals arrested, police said.

Subsequent investigation revealed that Kelleher and Baron had also attempted to burglarize a residence in the 100 block of Scarborough Avenue earlier on Friday, prior to their being arrested, by cutting the screen of a bathroom window. Police said they were unsuccessful.

Kelleher was arrested and charged with 3 felonies; 1 count of attempted second degree burglary, 1 count of theft of a motor vehicle and 1 count of second degree conspiracy.  Additionally, Kelleher was charged with 3 misdemeanors; 1 count of possession of marijuana, 1 count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and 1 count of criminal mischief under $1000.00.
Kelleher was committed to the Stevenson House Detention Center in default of $7250 secured bail, according to police.

Baron was arrested and charged with 3 felonies; 1 count of attempted second degree burglary, 1 count of theft of a motor vehicle, and 1 count of second degree conspiracy.  Baron was also charged with 3 misdemeanors; 1 count of possession of marijuana, 1 count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and 1 count of criminal mischief under $1000.00.  In addition to his charges, Baron had two active capiases' for violations of probation. Baron was committed to the Stevenson House Detention Center in default of $8750 secured bail, according to police.

Launay was arrested and charged with 2 felonies; 1 count of theft of a motor vehicle and 1 count of second degree conspiracy.  Additionally, Launay was charged with 2 misdemeanors; 1 count of possession of marijuana and 1 count of possession of drug paraphernalia.  Launay was released on $5000 unsecured bail, according to police.
