Motorcyclist Hits Bus, Two Other Cars in Rehoboth Beach

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - Two people were injured after their motorcycle hit a Delaware Transit bus and two other cars Sunday morning, according to police.

Master Corporal Gary Fournier with the Delaware State Police said it happened around 10:40 a.m. Sunday as a 35-year-old Pennsylvania man was driving his Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Coastal Highway in the far right lane in very heavy traffic. Fournier said the motorcycle swerved to the right to avoid hitting a car in front of him and entered into the bus lane where a Delaware Transit bus was traveling. The motorcycle hit the front side of the bus and then swerved back to the left and into the far right travel lane where he hit two more cars before coming to a stop, Fournier said.

The motorcyclist and his female passenger, who were both wearing helmets, were taken to Beebe Healthcare and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Fournier said. The motorcyclist, who was not identified, was charged with following too closely and unsafe lane change.

One lane of Coastal Highway was closed while police investigated.
