REHOBOTH BEACH Del.- After a few weeks of poor weather, the crowds were in full force in Delaware's beach towns, despite a rainy Memorial Day.

Vinnie DiNatale, the director of marketing of Grotto Pizza, said he thinks the weekend was more crowded than years in the past.

"The sun finally came out, that was a big part of it," he said. "We've had some pretty tough weekends with the weather being cold or rainy so a holiday weekend was bringing people out then the nice weather really brought them out to enjoy the nice weather."

However, after a very sunny first few days of Memorial Weekend, DiNatale said business wasn't as good on Monday.

"We were ready for a real strong weekend, we had the team ready, this was the 56th year Grotto Pizza has done a Memorial Day weekend," he said. "But the weather yesterday pushed people out of town a little bit early, we had some nice deliveries of people staying in town, but overall it was a little bit down because of the weather, I think everyone experienced that."

The Delaware Department of Transportation will be releasing driving totals for the state for the weekend later Tuesday.
