ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va.- Virginia State Police say two people from Delaware are dead following a Monday crash in Accomack County.

The crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on Lankford Highway (Route 13) at Knotts Landing Road (Route 702).

Police said a 2004 Nissan Armada was traveling on Lankford Highway in the right lane, when the driver, 56-year-old Lauren K. Burris of Magnolia, Del., lost control, veered off the road, and struck a light pole.

Burris died while he was being taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md., according to troopers.

Police said the vehicle's front seat passenger was unharmed from the accident. However, troopers said the back seat passenger, identified as 57-year-old Camilla M. Williams of Felton, Del., suffered life-threatening injuries. She died early Tuesday morning, according to police.

Neither alcohol nor speed played a role in the accident, police said. Notifications have been made to family members.
