POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - A disputed race in Worcester County finally had results Tuesday night. The Town of Pocomoke City held a special re-election Tuesday to elect a city council member for the District One seat, following a discrepancy in the April primary.

Current Councilman George Tasker beat out Pocomoke resident Sheila Nelson with a vote of 98 to 91.

Tasker ran against Nelson in the April 5 primary, but that election gave no result for District One after a machine issue left a discrepancy in the numbers. The machine counted 132 votes, though the two candidates' numbers added together only came to 127.

The following day, the election board held a meeting and also went to the city garage, where they tried to recreate the discrepancy. Unable to do so, the board again went into a meeting, where they came out to announce they would be recommending a re-vote of sorts for the town.

On his facebook page Tuesday night, Councilman Tasker wrote, "Thank you everyone who came out and voted to Re-elect councilman Tasker. God has been in control of this election the whole time. It took two elections and two wins and it's finally over."
