GREENSBORO, Md.- Maryland State Police are investigating a crash that killed a grandmother and her two grandchildren in Caroline County late Wednesday morning.

According to police, Joanne Janvier, 52, Angelina Noble, 9, and Jeremy McCready, 6, all of Greensboro, were all pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that just before noon, troopers from the Easton Barrack responded to the 27000 block of Maryland Route 314, Whiteleysburg Road, for a crash. According to police, it appears Janvier was driving westbound on Route 314 with her two grandchildren when she swerved to avoid a dog in the road. Police said she lost control of the car, crossed the center line and collided with a tractor-trailer that was traveling eastbound.

According to police, Benjamin Gilmer, Jr., 35, of Warton, Md. was operating the tractor-trailer, which was loaded with corn. Gilmer was not hurt in the crash and refused medical treatment, police said.

As of 3 p.m. the Maryland State Highway Administration was still assisting with detours while the road remained closed for the investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash, police said.
