MARDELA SPRINGS, Md. - A Wicomico County couple has a lot of damaged farm equipment tonight after a fire broke out in a chicken house they used for storage.

Fire officials say there were no chickens inside the 40 by 600-foot building on Baptist Church Road when the fire started around 8:45 a.m. Friday.

According to the state fire marshal's office, the fire was massive, requiring 50 firefighters to put it out. Total damage is estimated at about $280,000. No one was injured.

Fire marshals have ruled that the fire started inside the chicken house, but the exact cause has yet to be determined.
