DOVER, Del.- The Lowes store in Camden planned to simply hold a Memorial Day display contest. It turned into something much more heartfelt for many.

One of the displays, a painted picnic table, became so popular it was not used as a display. The store invited veterans and customers to sign it.

It currently sits at the veterans memorial behind Kent County Levy Court in Dover. Store employees dropped it off Monday afternoon. It is decorated with signatures, thank you messages, names, dates and quotations.

"Well we wanted to pay a tribute to all the veterans that had sacrificed their lives for us to be able to have the freedom that we have today," said Robbie Reed, an employee at the store.

Reed says they are thankful for all that veterans have given.

"So that we can do the things that we are doing today," he said. "And to be able to donate this back to the veterans here in Dover."

Vietnam Veterans of America local chapter #850 was there to receive the table and says it is going to cement it into the ground.
