REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Rehoboth Beach police say a 3-year-old boy was injured after he was hit by a car Tuesday morning.

Police said that at around 9:30 a.m., 3-year-old Redford Griffiths, of Chadds Ford, Pa., was crossing Brooklyn Ave. with his father, 49-year-old Gary Griffiths and his 6-year-old brother.

Investigators said that while the three were walking south in the crosswalk at the intersection of King Charles Avenue, 62-year-old Donna Summy, of Harrisonburg, Va., entered the intersection and was about to turn left onto Brooklyn Avenue.

According to police, the 3-year-old had not yet cleared the crosswalk when Summy turned left, hit the boy and knocked him to the ground.

Police said the father and Redford's older brother were not struck.

The 3-year-old was taken to Beebe Healthcare for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police said Summy was issued a traffic citation for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and no proof of insurance.
