DOVER, Del.- Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity and Americorps are partnering to build a home for a local veteran and his wife.

The organizations came together Wednesday to raise the frame of the home of Henry and Linda Wester, which will eventually be placed on New Street in downtown Dover.

John Gallo, executive director of Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity, says Americorps volunteers are doing all of the work, and they have provided the family and the mortgage.

Henry Wester, a veteran and one of the homeowners, said he is overwhelmed that so many people came out Wednesday to help frame his house.

"I appreciate this to no end," he said. "Because this will probably be the house that we move into and we get carried out of. This is going to be the home for the rest of our lives."

Gallo said that for the Habitat for Humanity group, National Homeownership Month is about providing affordable home ownership opportunities for people in need in their countywide region.
