CAMDEN, Del.- Construction is still underway on the new West Dover Connector, which has been in the Dover/Kent Metropolitan Planning Organization's plans since 2000.

Rich Vetter, executive director of the organization, says it has been a long time coming.

"Essentially, [there's] just too much traffic there," he said. "Too much queuing. This going to alleviate some of that. Certainly it's going to provide better access to Route 13."

The project will run for about 3.2 miles from Route 13 near Rodney Village Shopping Center and Brecknock Park. It will let out at the existing intersection of North Street and Saulsbury Road.

Vetter says construction is planned to be finished by summertime in 2017.

He says there will be one lane in each direction with a grass median. There will also be bike lanes and a shared use path.
