DOVER, Del.- Dover police have arrested a man accused of breaking into homes in two city neighborhoods.

Charles Wetzel, 42, is charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, two counts of criminal mischief and theft under $1,500.

According to police, on Thursday afternoon Wetzel broke out a rear bedroom window to an unoccupied apartment in English Village. Investigators said that once inside, Wetzel stole jewelry, but was seen by a witness fleeing the scene with a wound to his hand from the broken glass.

While detectives were on scene, they said Wetzel returned to the area and was taken into custody without incident.

Wetzel was also charged with a burglary in Dover Hall that occurred sometime between April 6 and May 4 while the owner was away, police said.

Following his arrest on the aforementioned charges, Wetzel was released on $7,000 unsecured bond.
