DAGSBORO, Del.- Delaware State Police say an 87-year-old woman has died as a result of the injuries she suffered in a June 12 crash near Dagsboro.

Troopers said Ruth N. Elvey, of Dagsboro, was initially transported to Beebe Healthcare before being flown to Christiana Medical Center, where she died Saturday, June 18.

Police said that just before 2 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 88-year-old Mary Bradshaw, also of Dagsboro, was driving eastbound on Vines Creek Road. Investigators said that when Bradshaw reached the intersection at Falling Point Road, she failed to see a car stopped in front of her. Police said Bradshaw struck the car, driven by Elvey.

Police said Elvey, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was treated at the scene by Sussex County Paramedics. She was then transported by EMS to Beebe Healthcare before being air-lifted to the Christiana Hospital where she was admitted in critical condition prior to her death.

Bradshaw was also properly restrained at the time of the crash, according to police. She was treated at the scene by Sussex County Paramedics before being transported by EMS to Beebe Healthcare where she was admitted with non-life threatening injuries.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into the crash and no charges have been filed at this time.
